Donington Park F1 Lap Video

To give the fans a look at what the new Donington Park F1 lap will look like, a video was released showing the circuit that the Formula 1 drivers will have to tackle in 2010.

It is a computer simulation video of course but features all the new corners as well as all the new buildings planned at Donington Park which includes: the Club House, new Hollywood Suites, Redgate Suites, the brand new pit and paddock complex as well as new grandstands for the fans.

The video gives us a great look at how the lap will change compared to the current circuit configuration.

The new sections at Donington Park

The pit straight is now on Starkeys straight which is where the brand new pit and paddock complex will be build. Turn one becomes the Melbourne hairpin to the cars will be arriving at great speed into that tight corner. As the cars head back on themselves, the circuit changes completely.

Turn 2 is a new piece of road that drops down hill and left, much further on than the hairpin that use to lead onto the old pit straight. Turn 3 is a sharp hairpin left which then rockets the cars up the steepest incline in Formula 1 we believe: 12 degrees. This section makes up turns 4 and 5 which lead onto the old pit straight and onto the rest of the lap which we are all familiar with.

The only other corner affected by the new configuration is Coppice corner which forms the last turn on the lap. This corner will be re profiled to make it shorter and tighter whilst also featuring the pit entrance on the right hand side.
